You could do something more abstract. My 4-year-old does all these lines and swirls rather than trying to paint actual things, and it's actually quite lovely. (Sure, she's supposed to be painting people and animals and trees at this age, and this could be considered another symptom of her developmental delay/ASD, but I prefer to consider it her artistic sensibility.)
