I have a friend I have not seen in many years. Her son, in his early twenties, has Bi Polar I. He was with his family at dinner when he noticed himself and his family noticed that he was getting real agitated and even some psychosis. He had the self awareness to voluntarily let his family take him to the emergency room at the local hospital.
He waited 5 to 6 hours before anyone even talked to him all the while getting more agitated. I don't know all the details but the end result was he grabbed a taser from a security guard and discharged it but not at the security guard. The security guard shot him a bunch of times and now the young man is paralyzed from the neck down.
She has been speaking to the press in a very brave and dignified manner. She can't understand, and neither can I, how a person could voluntarily go for help and end up in this position.
She had to leave at midnight to go home to take care of younger kids. The shooting took place at 3am. No one even notified her of what had happened. She found out from a friend the next morning.
Something is wrong with this whole picture.
