As a dude (that's what the kids call middle-aged men these days, right?), I probably shouldn't be in this thread (and my hair is so short that it would take a Cat 50 hurricane for it to move).

That said, I really think you should have your hair done ONCE (don't sign any contracts with the beauty parlor). After that, see how you feel about doing your hair on a long-term basis.
