Wow, thanks for the kind words and advice! It was more than I was expecting. Thank you.
I am not in talk therapy and am afraid to go back after my bad experiences in the late 90's. I do realize that not all therapists are bad, or even most of them.
The VA is strained dealing with vets coming back from two wars and all they can offer me right now is a therapist once every 4-6 weeks. My shrink said it that it would be a waste of time, but he said that I desperately need 2-3 sessions a week. I guess I should look outside the VA for options.
I do see my grand kids as often as I can, it is amazing how big of a source of help they are.
Shezbut,
I am sorry to hear that you had to go through that with seizures. As bad as my auras are, I couldn't imagine having so many seizure that surgery is needed. My shrink, and a neuro-psychologist I saw for a disability rating review both said it is risky. I should do more research on the subject. I would see my neurologist and ask her but she is so busy that she refuses to see me, unless I had a grand mal again. The joys of the VA system.
I also flipped out, when he brought it up. I always imagined ect was for completely out of control psychotics or something. I have a few weeks before my next appointment so I have time for more research.
Onward
I haven't considered mercury poisoning and have no idea how I could have been exposed it or another poison. How would I test for that? My normal doctor runs tons of blood work every year, it is usually 4 pages of stuff and other than the occasional slightly low potassium levels, nothing is out of sorts.
