Have you been IP before? I think it is good when you are making big adjustments to be in there so that they can monitor. They can also get the worst of it fast.

(in case this is your first time) I was so scared before I went in the first time (for a big med change). I had fought and refused hospitalization for a really long time and then my pdoc wanted me IP to go on this drug.

It's not bad. It's not vacation but the last time I was in there I was depressed with suicidal stuff and needed help with adjusting some meds while I came off something that was working but causing a bad side effect. I was in there with a great group of people and by the end of the first full day I was playing a game and laughing so hard. I hadn't laughed in a very long time and I laughed so much with that group of people. (It's a mood disorder unit so most people have depression and only a few bipolar. I really enjoyed just being depressed with everyone else). There are groups and things to keep you busy during the week; weekends are usually really boring. I've had good experiences, even when I had to be there for Christmas. I used to have 3 complaints, the food, the social worker and nurse Cynthia but they changed the food to pretty good stuff and nurse Cynthia must have retired so all that's left is dealing with the social worker. Last time I was there she told the team she'd found a support group for me (I live in a really rural area without support groups). She refused to tell me about it. Turns out when I was discharged that she printed off all the DBT groups in the state and that was "MY" group. The nearest one was 90 minutes away at minimum and my therapist doesn't think DBT is what I really need.

Good luck with your appointment. The ride thing stinks. That's why I can't go today (or last night if only my mom didn't go to sleep really early). I'm scared they'll want to send me home and I'll not have anyone to get me. In the past I've driven myself but this time that's not a good idea.
