I've experienced therapy I found very harmful, but wasn't necessarily in ethical violation. In my opinion, unless therapy is mandated, the client always is at will to leave a therapist's practice. I don't believe a client needs to justify being uncomfortable and is free to leave whether or not a therapist has crossed a clear ethical boundary.
