There are two systems to go about this. The first is the biological route which is medication. The second is the psychological route. The serotonin system and the cortisol system. The mind or the body. One is not better than the other. In fact, both together is probably the best.

If you are resisting the medication route, go with the serotonin system. In your brain, the objective is to release a neurotransmitter called serotonin which is the feel good chemical. Most drugs stimulate serotonin and the release of it. The reason you are feeling the way you are now is because in your brain, your not releasing enough serotonin which there are many ways to do. Example, meditation, google top 10 foods to release serotonin.
