Have you considered getting a new therapist?

"Thanks for your advice," is polite and noncommittal.

With regard to length, it will take some courage. "I've been thinking and I've decided that to get better i need to speak more in here. I need to put myself out there more." Stick to your guns on this.

After that, you can interrupt as needed by saying "Remember I need to speak more in here." And then say what is on your mind.

Still a therapist who drones on and on and freely dispenses advice doesn't necessarily sound like a keeper. What do you like about him?

Thanks for this!
