I once read that losing one's job is the "psychological equivalent to getting hit by a car!" I agree, disturbing as that analogy is.

And our culture doesn't help. People are expected to just "suck it up", and employers should be doing more to solve the problem they helped create: Unemployed people.

IMO, 30 days is not nearly enough to get settled into something new, for that learning curve. Some people just have no humanity or patience or whatnot!

So sorry this happened to you. Our "worker bee" culture is incredibly hard on self-esteem. I heard of a saying: "Europeans work to live; Americans lives to work." Sad, sad, sad.
