Hi Hsalmon21,
You're so right, no one deserves to be depressed!
You're in good company, world leaders have lived with depression for many years, and also the kind of caring, sensitive person who makes this world a better place to live, is, sadly, more likely to feel mental pain, or the deadness we feel if the pain is too much.
I'm so glad you have taken positive steps to reach out and have stopped the self injury. That habit may feel helpful at the time, but it becomes an addiction, causing more problems than it helps. It is an addiction that I am trying to break.
I really hope you can finish school and when you are independent of your parents, you have more choices and more freedom from family triggers. It is then you can build your life with who you are and whatever you value.
People here have helped me through some dark times and I hope you get as much encouragement from this community as I have.
Best wishes, keep posting.
