I am of the Anglican church and love Lent. More than Christmas I'm looking forward to Lent 2016. I had a pretty bad 2015, so this introspective time is much needed.

Here is a prayer for the start of Lent.

God, supreme in love,
grant in your compassion
that we may spend the season
of the joyful Fast in profound peace.

Destroy the desire of bitter sin,
granting us contrition,
tears of healing and forgiveness of our trespasses,
that fasting with a fervent spirit and undoubting soul,
we may sing the praises of your power.
