Check out YNAB - youneedabudget.com - it's life changing. The word budget has a lot of negative connotation (restriction, etc.), but that's not what this is about. It's a program that helps you to give every dollar you have a job to do, even if that job is to sit in your savings account waiting for when you need a new roof, or a vacation opportunity sometime in the next few years.

It syncs through dropbox with handheld devices, so it can be used anywhere you go. The Classic version is a one-time cost; the newer version is cloud-based and is a subscription service. I use the Classic and don't foresee changing.

We have saved a TON of money, just being more intentional and aware about how we're spending.
