I am new to this forum after looking up info on Adult AD/HD and Bipolar, I knew years ago I had ault ADD but didn't know where to go for help, hopefully after my appt next Tuesday I can finally recieve the help I need.

Today I went to my regular DR for a physical, took everything I had read about Adult ADD and some of the assesments I took from various websites (all pointing to adult adhd in severe form) and yesterday I had my school records mailed to me!
As well ALL know ADD starts in childhood, well my school records all show I had ODD, and Depression and was described as an angry young lady! (abuse in home would contribute to that!) Was also considered to be a very hyperactive child!

But I was never tested for ADHD, weird!
Maybe because back then it was a "boy's" problem?

Who knows anyway!
I found a DR to prescribe me ritalin until my appt Tuesday, I am much calmer now after taking it!
Otherwise, I wouldn't have the patience to post on this site!

I was sent to a shrink a couple of weeks ago but after only talking to me for like 30 mins he comes back with the DX BIPOLAR?

No no no!!! I know BIPOLAR people, my mother is bipolar and probably my brother too! I am NOTHING like them
so I came home did research, took some assesments, none pointed to bipolar, but some did point to depression and ALL of them pointed to ADHD, or a combined type of ADD/ADHD!!

I know where my current depression is coming from though, it's coming from stress, severe stress which is just making my ADD symptoms worse, so I told my DR, you want to treat the depression? Treat the ADD and it'll treat everything!
I don't feel depressed though, im not sad, just moody, and easily irritated, but that comes with the stress in my life..

Back to my point, my regular DR told me today she thinks I very well may be right and let her know how everything goes Tuesday because if they don't assess me for ADHD/ADD then she will herself!

So i'm thinking WONDERFUL! Finally, after all these years I can finally get relief!!!
