Classic!

Well, very early in therapy, at a nighttime session, I was having a hard time sharing some traumatic memories I had recently recovered, and T was trying to find out what I needed from him in order to be able to share. "What can I do to make it safer for you?" he asked, as he often does. I thought a moment and then said, "it's too bright in here. Can you turn down the lights?" So he turned off the light by his desk. "It's still too bright," I said. So he turned off the lamp near me. "More?" he asked. I nodded. And he turned off the last lamp in the room, next to him. It was pitch black. Silence. "Is that enough?" he asked. I started laughing hysterically. And he joined in (and turned one of the lamps back on).
