At the bottom of each forum, there's a little link that says add/remove from favorties. You click that to add the forum you want. Once you've gone throug and added all the forums you want, on the main forum page, scroll all the way down and click the link that says show favorite forums only, or something like that.

It helps me not loose forums this way. Maybe it would help with this issue as well.
