Take your sleep med at the same time every night, no exceptions. Go to bed, meaning actually be in your bed and not in the living room watching tv or something like that. It sounds obvious but so many people don't actually do it. A sleep med may not work if you're still stimulating yourself with electronics. Which leads to not using cell phones, tablets, etc. while in your bed. Turn off the lights in the bedroom as well. I want to say turn off the tv also, but myself personally can't do that. I need the background noise. So I set the sleep timer and face away from the tv with a program on that I don't actually need to be looking at, like the news or a rerun of a show I already know (and can probably watch in my head lol). If you can fall asleep without tv, first of all you're lucky (and I'm jealous) and then you can go ahead and add that to your routine once you're in your bedroom. You should fall asleep within the hour if you have the right med at the right dosage. At least that works for me. Good luck!

I have a situation, besides having to do as you with the TV.
After I take the trazodone I need to eat something.
Then, I need to wait an hour to take the xanax.
One goes with food, the other doesn't.
