Jan, I think the blender I got from Wally World was under $20. It's a bare bones one. I didn't need one with all the fancy bells and whistles.

Trying to think of other "mushy" food....

scrambled eggs

pudding (I buy the packs of four small cups for $1 at Wally World)

yogurt

cream of wheat and that sort of hot cereal

ice cream!!!!

sherbet

frozen fruit juice on a stick

soup, soup and more soup

can't tell you how many Frosties I had from Wendy's

smashed potatoes, actually most veggies can be cooked and mashed up. Someone told me about mashed cauliflower - YUMMMMM! I use frozen veggies for mashed veggies. They are easier to cook until they are real soft so you can mash them.

some baked fish - not breaded! - is mushy enough. I would recommend fillets so you don't have to worry about bones.

When my mouth was healed some I could eat really well cooked (mushy) white rice. I would add different flavoring to the water to give it some taste.

French toast with the crusts cut off the bread

Be sure to check with your dentist about eating hot or cold food after they pull your teeth. They told me to avoid hot food at first to let the swelling go down.

Speaking as a person who likes to come home and throw a Healthy Choice dinner in the microwave, it is possible to feed yourself decently on a mushy diet. Might take more work/cooking than usual, but it's possible. One thing I would do because I didn't want to have to create something to eat each night, was to cook pots of things on Sunday. Then I'd either eat the same thing several nights in a row. (I don't mind doing that.) Or I'd freeze single serving sizes of whatever. Then all I had to do was throw it in the microwave when I got home after work.
