When I was living with my mother she reacted to any sex-related questions with disgust. I never shared anything like that with her. There was something off between us, my life started when I moved out.

If you feel unimportant at home and your parents refuse to help, try joining a group of people to do anything that you find interesting. That will most likely give you a sense of importance.
