I get bad migraines but reduced the frequency from 20+ days per month to one every 3-4 months (plus some minor ones that I don't count b/c they don't compare) just by adding a magnesium supplement. I saw a neurologist specializing in migraines and that was her #1 recommendation and it worked almost immediately. She also recommended CoQ10 (made me hypomanic and also agitates my sister so be careful) and melatonin. I didn't try the melatonin; not sure why now. But magnesium is pretty amazing at preventing them. I take 500 mg which is the highest I can find; 400 is more common.
