Booze will help you fall asleep (it is a sedative after all) but will cause you to wake up just a few hours later since the body converts the alcohol into glucose, which gives you a sugar rush and causes you to wake back up (imagine if you drank a soda in your sleep).
Most psych meds that I know of are also not meant to be combined with alcohol. They can interfere with the effectiveness of the drugs and cause side-effects of various kinds.
