I'm not a druggie by any means, but I really want my pdoc to prescribe me either Ritalin or Adderall. My concentration has always been very poor and it's really hurting me at work... yet my pdoc will NOT prescribe me Ritalin or Adderall. He says that he's worried it'll induce a manic episode. But I thought with the right mood stabilizer you don't have to worry about stimulants causing mania?

I've never been on Ritalin or Adderall before, but I feel like I need it in order to concentrate and get my work done. I just can't focus at all because my attention drifts on its own, no matter how hard I try to stay focused. I can't sustain my attention for very long and I think that's the root of the problem.

I did do a neuropsych eval and the psychologist said I had an attention deficit and an executive functioning deficit, so it's not surprising that I have concentration problems.

Should I look into getting a new pdoc?
