I don't want to go back to her. I want to give up and I see no alternative right now. This therapy is at an art therapy college counseling center and does not cost a lot of money so it seemed that it would be a good thing for me. I still don't want any part of someone like her. I am in my 70's and would like to get rid of an awful stutter that appeared suddenly recently when I was thinking about my childhood. I don't care what happened so much; I just want to get rid of the bad feelings and also the stutter.
She could see how troubled I was and yet I felt she was using me for entertainment. Big disappointment. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Does anyone think that art therapists are less professional and more "oopsy-doopsey new agey?" I had one many years ago and she told me that flying saucers followed her home every night after work. Yeah, I'm serious!!!!

Im wondering if she was laughing at something else. sometimes my own treatment provider will start laughing. it usually turns out to be not about me and directly related to what I had said. most times its because what I have said reminded her or a funny situation that had nothing to do with me, other times its because what I said is right in line with the topic that my treatment provider and someone else were discussing. another time I found my treatment provider laughing at something I had said it was because of the new changes in diagnosis's. for example if i had told my treatment provider hey Im having this problem with my complex PTSD she too would laugh then point out to me that here in the USA there is no diagnosis label called complex PTSD, then tell me the updated diagnosis label of mine that takes the place of this change. she wasnt saying my problem didnt exist nor laughing at my problems just at the new changes and how she as a treatment provider now has more work to do in the way of changing her clients views on what their diagnosis is now. my treatment provider sometimes finds it quite funny and challenging to implement the new labels.
ultimately only this treatment provider can tell you why they laughed at something you said.
my suggestion keep the next appointment and let her know that upset you and why, and ask her why she laughed.
