I heard about the story of Sir Nicholas Winton who rescued 669 Jewish children from the Nazi death camps on the eve of WW2.
He was such a humble man he never told his wife, who only found out when she discovered his scrap-books in the attic.

Here is a clip from a TV show where as an old man he gets to meet all the people he saved, now adults themselves.

It's a very beautiful moment.
