Hi Friends,

Last week was quite a week. The following is the sub-plot to my husband's crazy antics with his new job.

On Tuesday no water was running into the house. The whole water thing is another VERY SORE subject in regard to my husband's stubborness.

Anyway we did not realize that we didn't have a well on the property, or that we were not hooked up to rural water when we moved here.

There was a pump in place to pump water up from the pond. Sounds pretty yucky except evidently there must be some filtration device in the pump house, b/c the water always looked decent. I supplemented that water with bottled water where appropriate.

Anyway somewhere along the line, husband decided he should start hauling water. This is what our closest neighbor does, and a lot of people in this area do.

However, it has given my husband the perfect excuse to keep a big pick-up truck, of course with a big monthly price tag. Of course, he needed a trailer and this huge plastic water tank.

When he hauls water he puts it in what looks to me like an old well in the frontyard, which is hooked up to the pump.

If the water gets too low, then the pump needs to be primed again, which seems to be a tricky process.

Despite four trips to town to the Water Dept. to get four gigantic loads of water on Tuesday night, the pump would not come back on.

I advised husband against making all those runs on Tuesday night, b/c he had to get up early and go to work the next day.

I said we can buy four gallons of water, and I'll be fine. Thank God for my Girl Scout training.

The bottom line is we were without water for two days. I had to wash my hair to teach on Thursday. So Thursday morning, there I was over the kitchen sink with a gallon of water and my shampoo.

On Thursday husband was able to get things running again by the time I came home from school.

I hope someone is chuckling over this story. I'm sure I will be about the whole thing soon.
