Following up on last week's topic of the neglected child, here is a new technique that points to ways that have worked on actual patients with Depression. So in Depression Support chat this week, Thursday 9PM EST, we will discuss how either virtual reality or even using our imaginations we can heal the vulnerable child within us.

Virtual Reality Therapy Shows Promise for Depression | Psych Central News

This sounds like it has some good features.

Quote:
The researchers believe this type of therapy works because it helps depressed patients feel less critical and more compassionate toward themselves.

In this study, by comforting the child and then hearing their own words back, patients are indirectly giving themselves compassion. The aim was to teach patients to be more compassionate towards themselves and less self-critical, and we saw promising results.
Interesting - even if someone does not have the virtual reality setup, it is still possible to take on the role of the compassionate adult talking to the vulnerable child. See you in chat.

It is important to keep on topic so everyone can benefit from the chat. At the end of chat there will be free time to discuss personal challenges. This is to protect the integrity of the chat and make sure everyone feels involved.
