Hi Aviza: From my experience with renting an apartment there are two concerns an agent has: 1) Does the tenant have a history of writing bad checks and, 2) Has the tenant broken any previous leases? Landlords generally us Chexsystems which looks for a history of bounced checks. Banks use the same system before opening a checking account. If you do not have any outstanding utility debts you should be ok. Landlord also look at your income. Most places want you to spend about 30% of monthly income on rent. Any more might make other expenses hard to meet thus making you a risk. I have a Rep Payee manage my money. After rent, electric, internet, food and allowance I manage to have $120.00 per month left over which I don't see. No longer am I interested in the things I want just the things I need. Believe me it took years to get over the wants. Make your apartment your home. Small though it may be it's a sanctuary. Remember, if your heart is in the right place you shall be there as well.
