I've been on lithium for unipolar depression. It didn't help, but I didn't have side effects either. Not even toxicity, which is nothing short of a miracle because I was psychotic and refused to drink liquids (as I was of the opinion that would make me immortal, and given that I was suicidal, that was something I didn't want).
