I came to psychology late in life , and I found as I looked at the various strategies to combat symptoms e.g cbt , mindfulness , etc : these were things I had learned naturally through out the years prior to this..
My symptoms were incredibly tactile and externally felt , olfactory etc. So for me at least psychosis has a definite physical signature , and once you learn how to recognise it, you can possibly begin to treat it, but in a much more accurate and intelligent way. Lets be honest , I found no other way to treat this 'signature' short of meds. I simply could not out think , or cognitively , spiritually or whatever counteract these symptoms. Meds were the only way. But once I recognised the symptoms I could intelligently use meds. So I wasn't blankly carpet bombing symptoms, not even knowing what I was looking for , where a precision strike , if you like , could get me over a problem I was having , etc. So the trick is to recognise , what is going on with your body first , then it will reinforce more confidence because you begin to understand how exactly you become psychotic in the past. No vodoo nonsense , just using pure logic....
Thanks for this!
