I think that sometimes we get lost in our own stuff and forget that other people exist or have issues. so we forget how to reach out until it is too late. Then we feel even worse about ourselves because of our choices to isolate or give in to the anxiety/pain/whatever. I lost a friend this week to brain cancer and i can honestly say I wish that I'd known her better. everyone is saying what an incredible person she was, but i don't know, because I was too lost in my own mind to reach out to her.
