Changing your screen name will change the name displayed beside all of your old posts....
however, if someone has quoted you in the past, then the quote in their post will still contain your old username, which if followed back will go to the old post with your new username. I'm pretty sure that'd still show up in Google too.
I feel your pain on the anonymity front. I've made the mistake in the past on another forum, albeit in a much more subtle way. Unfortunately I was just a bit naïve & there is little to do about it now...
From a personal perspective, I think that although I'd prefer certain things be private, I know if someone found out, it really wouldn't be the end of the world. I think sometimes it can be easy to blow these
"what ifs" out of proportion.
Although I completely understand that is different for everyone.
Oh and you are allowed to change your username once on PC:
