Wow. Can't believe you've never had sushi before!
I've only had it as part of lunch deals from stores, although there are some Japanese restaurants here.
I'm determined to try ramen. Just found out where I can get some as a take-away... chain restaurant here called Wagamama. Lot of mixed reviews, although my branch seems to be largely positive... probably nothing like real ramen, but worth a shot...
Just trying to figure out which one sounds best now...

Your brother in law sounds like an ***. Don't listen to him.
Any regular form of exercise is good for you... plus you can't expect someone to start doing marathons overnight if you get what I mean. Got to ease yourself into it... walks & yoga sounds like a great start to me.
(Hell, I'm sure you get some people who are really fit who only do yoga & long brisk walks!)
As for your hobbies... learning languages & instruments looks great on a CV! It shows commitment & that you are actually doing something worthwhile with your time. If you wanted to make the language part look even better on a CV, then take evening classes or something.
He clearly doesn't have a clue.
I hope you are feeling better today. I have very little experience of SI, but could you try putting a rubber band on your wrist & snapping that instead if you get the urge? I've heard that can be a safe alternative if you can't stop yourself...
