Comes to show: men are mysterious creatures. They might not show it, but they can (and often do) care. Maybe it was all a bit of tough love.

As an aside: maybe you can train yourself not to let it show (too much) when you are having a panic attack. Just very slowly go to the toilet (more slowly still when hyperventilating, more so still when sitting), doing breathing exercises, just looking/observing without thinking. More so if you dissociate. At least some derealisation is very common.
Very often, people don't really notice at first or at least not the extent of the anxiety. Just try and train yourself to put on a front, excusing yourself for being nauseous and go to the corridor, toilet or outside. It could be something you ate, who knows.
