St Johns wort is really a natural source of a substance similar to an SSRI type antidepressant so must not be taken with any antidepressants due to serotonin syndrome risk which can be fatal.
It isn't sustained release or anything, so if it says take 3 times a day, you probably need to do so in order to keep a consistent amount in your blood.
It usually takes 4 to six weeks for any antidepressant substance to take effect and my pdoc will wait 2 months before deciding it's not helping.
I use alarms on my mobile phone to remind me to toke my meds as I have to take them at precise times and would never remember without it.
Are you under 25? There are issues with taking antidepressant substances while your brain is still growing, it keeps developing until age 25. If you are young, especially under 18 you need to be careful, usually prescribing for young people should only be with the supervision of a Pdoc and they can increase suicide risk in young people.
Best wishes,
