When I left the last one I just was done with I had a choice of 2 well-known hospitals. I tried the more famous one first and they wouldn't take me without my old records. So I went to the other place (after the first place suggested I might need IOP as I sounded extremely manic). Years later my pdoc left private practice and went to the first hospital and when I scheduled my first visit all the information from my wildly out of control discussion with them was still recorded and I got extra screening.
Now I doubt I'll ever leave the hospital system where I go; when my pdoc retires I'll change to someone else there. It's not worth the effort and makes SSDI much easier when I have reviews since everything is right there in a massive pile of how sick I've been for the years I've gone there.
I have always felt the least they know going in the less bias in the assessment.
