So I am in a DBT group and have my homework due tomorrow. I was hoping for some help from the great minds here. I have to pick a problem behavior and then list the pros and cons of acting on the urges and pros and cons of resisting the urges. So the problem behavior I picked was cutting i.e. self harm. Pros for acting on urges: feel something, relieves stress, distraction. Cons for acting on urges: dangerous, increase suicidal thoughts, have to hide it, could leave a scar.
I have nothing for the pros and cons for resisting the urges. So any insight to any of these four categories would be greatly appreciated.
