Sometimes it's good to do things outside your comfort zone as long as you are sensible. I'm sure you'll enjoy it and have a great sense of achievement having done it. Make a point of talking to people there and join a group. Someone said that you tend to more regret things that you don't do than those you do. Go and have a great time.
