Hello Confusedatglance: I see this is your first post... so... welcome to PsychCentral... from the Skeezyks! May you find the time you spend here to be of benefit.

I don't know that I can really offer much with regard to the subject of your post. I'm an older person now. And, especially recently, I've found it increasingly difficult to read anything of any depth. In fact, just a few days ago I sold a bunch of books I had purchased to read. I just decided I was never going to be able to sit down & focus on them, so why keep them around?

I've always had difficulty concentrating. And rote memorization was almost always near impossible. The only way I managed to graduate from college was that, while I was still in school, they dropped the foreign language requirement. I never knew anyone who spoke anything other than English & so learning a foreign language in college would have been rote memorization. I wish you well...
