I live alone and spend much of my time that way. I try not to be bored when alone. I go for a walk, clean, or write. I joined this site for the duel reasons of being engaged in my recovery and the distinct purpose of not being bored. When I am bored and alone I get idle if I do not correct the situation. Becoming idle is a self-destructive behavior. It causes you to think about things you cannot change and I tend to get lost in my head.
I suggest, if you have the motivation, to do something. The action of doing, whatever it involves, is healthier than being bored. Also, if you feel engaged in any activity that is positive you will feel better and be healthier than you feel when you feel bored.
