Hello Rabbit1256: Personally, I think this is probably something best dealt with, with the help of a therapist. I think you're spot-on with regard to what you need here. But finding appropriate coping strategies is going to take some exploration & some trial-&-error, preferably with the assistance of a skilled professional. There may also be some other types of therapy such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or Dialectical Behavioral Therapy that could be helpful. (I'm not knowledgeable with regard to these.) But, here again, you would probably both want & need to see a therapist on an individual basis first before you would be able to get a referral for a program such as these.
