i suffered from long term abuse and only started showing symptoms of PTSD when i turned 17. it was really bad and lasted for three and a half years.

now i still struggle from mental health issues due to trauma, but my PTSD symptoms have been almost non-existent lately. i mean, it's been a few months but i'm not used to it.

i don't see a professional anymore, so i can't ask them this. but is this normal? idk how persistent PTSD is. does it last forever? does it come and go?

those three years were horrible and i never thought i'd get out of it, but now i can do some things that i couldn't do back then. it's a good thing but does that mean i never had PTSD? or is that how PTSD works?

i always thought it was a life-long thing, and i've been having a few good months, so it's all so bizarre to me.

so basically, do ptsd symptoms come in episodes like other mental health issues? or??

i hope this makes sense my head's a bit foggy atm
