You might be able to take medical leave? A colleague of mine suffers from anxiety/ depression ( but more anxiety) and he had to take 3 months off last year ( per his psychiatrist), he is doing much better this year. If you are overwhelmed, seeing a professional might make it better. You never know unless you try. Most people can't quit their job no matter how hard it is. They'd end up on the street homeless and hungry. I can only see it if one is on disability or their spouse can/willing to support them. Please think it through before you quit. You won't even get unemployment if you quit. How will you pay your rent/mortgage??? Car? Phone?

I understand how work/school takes years out of ones life.
