Depends on if you file a Chapter 7 or a Chapter 13. I filed a Chapter 7 which wipes it all clear so you don't have to repay, but leaves that mark on your credit for about ten years I believe. The Chapter 13 you still have to repay. It basically restructures your debt for repayment on agreed amount established in the court. The garnishing your wages part, I can't confirm. It comes down to amount, at least in my situation. My debt was too high and too much for me to live and would take forever to pay off. Pm me for any questions
