Diagnosed BP NOS at 53, then bipolar 1 at 55. But I've always known something wasn't right with me, not since I was five or six, and now of course I wish my parents would have gotten me help when I was young. They did take me to see a child psychiatrist once when I kept having night terrors, but they didn't like him because he said something was wrong with me, so I never went back and they never followed up with another doctor. They weren't diagnosing kids with manic depression back in those days anyway, so I suppose it wouldn't have done much good to see another pdoc, but sometimes I really wish I'd found out sooner...maybe I could have kept my nursing career going. Guess I'll never know now.
