Boy do i know that feeling all too well unfortunately. I know how hard it can be to be faking the smile, participating in the small talk, and even just being around other people sometimes. And i wish i knew the answers, but i just really think its important to take some "you" time. As much as you think you need. Yes you may feel antisocial or feel like you are missing out on things, but just think of it this way; if you don't have this time to yourself then you're not going to be able to enjoy yourself when comes the time to be around people.
Try and do some things that you enjoy doing, whether that be the nature thing, or reading, art, music, whatever. it doesn't matter. just do your thing, and eventually the rest will fall into place.
If this continues though, i'd recommend talking to someone about it. It doesn't necessarily have to be therapy if you're not into that, but just someone that you can trust. Sometimes these things just need a little extra "push" if you will, just by talking it out with someone.
Hang in there, things will get better.
