I hope so too. As a government bureaucracy the NHS is subject to budgeting pressures to not "overtreat" patients. My experience is not with the NHS but with US systems (military and VA+Medicare).

My Take: Your earliest abusers moulded you in ways that increased the likelihood of you receiving and tolerating more abuse in the future.

It is horrific that some of that later abuse came from people who were supposed to help you heal.
