I am affiliated with the University Counseling Center where I work. (I will clarify that I am NOT a counselor). The therapists and counselors in our center are trained and certified just like any other counselor you would see in a private practice. In fact, many of our have practices where they see clients in the evenings. What I'm saying is that university counselors are not "less than" and they can handle anything you share with them. Anything you share with them is confidential (except the things that would have to be reported anyway (hurting yourself or others, abuse to a minor, etc.) and your counseling records are held separate from your school records. No one can access your counseling records without your written consent. Please reach out to the counselors at your university. Allow them to help you. You deserve that.
Thanks for this!
