Did you try to stir out the bubbles in your ginger ale? Sometimes the bubbles (carbonation) irritates my stomach when I'm sick. So, if you haven't stirred out the bubbles, you could try that.

I've heard peppermint works well too. It's supposed to calm your stomach down so that you can eat food. Maybe you can suck on a peppermint candy if you have any? Or if you have peppermint extract, put some in a cup of water and drink it. (I know it sounds nasty, but it's one way to get it into your stomach.)
