CA state law is also specific about whether you will be personally liable for mortgaged. purchase money loan, refinanced loan, home equity loan. there are tax consequences .

the rest of the stuff I know is bankruptcy... so. if you want to walk away from the property that's an option, if your goal is to save the house and you need to catch up on past due balances there are several options in bk. or even if you start off wanting to save the house, get in bk and then change your mind , there's an outcome to that . there are so many variables that get considered, bk can get complicated bc of a person assets and liabilities.

Thanks again for the info. I wish that I could tell you what my husband has planned as he STILL has NOT told me anything yet! He just told me that realtor guy is taking care of things and that he didn't talk to him yet. I detect B.S here.

He got mad at me last night for bringing it up. He told me that it was late and he'd hungry and needs to eat and that he doesn't want to talk about it. WTH? I'm his wife, so I don't get why he is keeping this information from me! It's making things much worse for me, not knowing what is going on!

I'm guessing that he thinks he has it all under control since we've been behind on our mortgage before, and he was able to work out some payment plan I think. Or maybe he paid whatever he owed the bank in time, idk for sure.

It would be stupid to walk away from a house that we invested so much in. And I hope he knows that. I think that he does. And to make things worse, we have two cats, and most apartments don't even allow any pets!

Is there any way that we can get out of this mess? He did tell me that he refinanced the house or something like that so now we owe $400,000 for the house. He has around $20,000 in the bank, so if he makes up for a few months payments, can our house be saved? I sure hope so! Our monthly mortgage is $2600.

I'd appreciate anymore help that you can provide and if there are anyway that we can save our house.

I'm thinking about going on gofundme.com and hope that I'll be able to raise enough money to save our house in time. It'll be humiliating, but I don't feel like I have much in the way of options. I doubt that my dad can help us out. He might be able to help us a little, but he doesn't have all the money that we need for sure.
