I think so, yeah. I remember discovering Storm of the Century back when, emotionally, I was in a pretty cynical place and didn't feel good about people in general. Maybe that was another reason I identified with it so much -- I kind of had feelings along the lines of what it's like when you discover someone else's skeleton in the closet. And I also remember being...simultaneously revolted and pitying the townsfolk who had those secrets. KOTOR is kind of my own metaphor for putting together what might have happened. Hogwarts was something I was about to get back into when the flashes started (which makes me wonder if there's some degree of conflation going on, but I don't know why it would happen. I wouldn't want something like this to happen), and Dr. Bumby...well, he's a creep who actually played a pretty big part in the events of American McGee's Alice even though we never saw him. So I guess this is a giant metaphor for how exactly I got here.
