I was just talking to someone about my
past jobs because I came across an article on the local news about a OBGYN billing Medicare fraudulently and funneling prescription meds to dealers. Well I'm in the medical field and I'd have to say, that doesn't surprise me, about the insurance fraud at least. Every doctor I have worked for has billed for higher services that they did not give. When I left one of my jobs, I found out the manager (and office biller)scammed and milked almost 4 million out of insurance with fake procedures that never took place. Everything between a $5 urine and up.
What is everyone's else's experience or knowledge as far as where you've worked or know about (whether you're an employee or patient)? Maybe it differs from state to state, country to country (im sure), or office to office. But unfortunately I've experienced it many times. And im sure we've experienced it just being patients too. But this is a thing that really concerns me and I think people need to be looking at this a lot more. This hurts everyone in the business. Even I as a patient have gotten bills for procedures I've never had and had to argue it out with insurance and doctors. So I see it from my work life as well as personal.
